i amanged to download the mx but it asked me about the web apache or just its own on a radio button option.
can i run cf with out apache?
i have just chose to configure its own mx server. problem it is taking forever to configure. is that OK?
what should i do?
1. do i still need apache? or iis? if so where can i get it?
2. also home site or dreamweaver. i need it right? if so where do i get it?
3. database software. i have access already installed. is that good. are there files i can have for free??

HELP!

1) You don't need to install Apache, IIS or any other web server. Let Coldfusion use its own built-in web server. It is actually quite good and, when you're only just beginning, it is probably the ideal solution. If necessary, you could always install Apache or IIS later, without having to re-install Coldfusion.

2) Some developers do Coldfusion on Notepad. It's mostly a question of skill level and convenience, rather than of need. To obtain Homesite or Dreamweaver, go to the download page of this web site. I prefer Homesite, for being simpler. They are not free. However, Eclipse is. In fact, I would recommend it as a good habit to have right from the beginning.

3) MySQL (Community Edition, Windows Essentials version) is free. MS Access will help you learn, but the database cannot scale up to industrial-strength Coldfusion websites.
