Intermittent "Error establishing socket to host and port:Connection Refused"...

Contributor ,

We have two servers, both with MS-SQL Server 2000 and ColdFusion 9 installed.  One of them is giving me an intermittent "Error establishing socket to host and port: Connection Refused" message...  Seems to happen completely randomly...

I've checked everything -- firewall, SQL port-settings, CF port-settings, SQL-server service-packs, etc., etc...  Googling "Error establishing socket to host and port" gets you quite a bit of information, and I've gone through just about all of it.  Nothing has worked.

Like I said, the problem is intermittent, and seems to happen randomly.  Got no clue as to why it's doing this...

Any ideas?  Anyone ever see this before?

Thanks,

Laurence MacNeill

Hi Laurence,

Not sure I understand, I gather 2 servers 1 SQL 1 CF. Perhaps from each server "PING -t" the other, maybe you will have a dropped packet which could indicate why the intermittent fail to connect. Not really a solution just another idea to find a cause.

HTH, Carl.
