List of car manufactuers

I'm creating a form that will collect some demographic information about a users car. I was wondering if anyone knew of any complete listings of car manufacturers, models, and the years those models were made. I would like to have this information in 3 sepearte lists to elliminate the chance of wrong information. If anyone knows where I can find any of this information it would be a great help. I've done some google searchs thus far with no luck. Thanks.

You might go to kbb.com and look at their dropdowns. Kinda tedious, though.

Thanks for the idea jdeline, tried to find the info on there but I believe they have it all hidden somewhere in javascript files. There's no trace of it when I look through the source. Thanks for the idea though.

That data set is going to be huge. How many model years back do you want to go? Do you want the obscure manufacturers and models, too? Is this for any particular country? If it is US-Centric the table might be quite different than Australia-Centric, etc. There are likley lots of Holden's on the roads of Australia, but hardly any in the US, do you want Holden listed in your select box?

The other intricacies are facts such as a Pontiac Grand Am available for model years 1973-1975 and then 1978 - 1980 and then 1984 - 2004. Would you allow for "illegal" years such as 1976, or not worry about it? Do you want brands like "Whippet", which has not been manufactured for over 75 years? Where do you draw the line? Hudson? AMC? Oldsmobile and Plymouth are dead... do you inlcude those?

If the dropdowns from KBB or traderonline.com are stored in a js file, why not enter the address of the js files (determined by using 'view source') and download the javascript?

• Edmunds: This website also has a comprehensive list of car manufacturers, models, and years. You can also read reviews of individual cars and compare different models.
• Kelley Blue Book: This website is a good resource for car values. You can also find a list of car manufacturers, models, and years on this website.
• Wikipedia: The Wikipedia article on "List of automobile manufacturers" has a comprehensive list of car manufacturers, models, and years.

You can also find this information in a variety of print publications, such as Car and Driver and Consumer Reports.

Once you have collected this information, you can separate it into three separate lists:

• Car manufacturers: This list should include the name of each car manufacturer, such as Toyota, Ford, and Honda.
• Car models: This list should include the name of each car model, such as Camry, F-150, and Accord.
• Years: This list should include the years that each car model was made.
