Making CF Sales Pitch to Boss

I have been developing in CF for a little over 4 years now. At work I have an intranet system that I developed running on BlueDragon 7 Free Edition. I did this cause I needed a free solution at the time. However I have built a lot of applications that have wowed a lot of people in my company including my boss. Now he is wondering what we could do with it if we bought a copy of CF8. Keep in mind my boss doesn't really know what CFML really is, and we already have a PHP developer in house working on and maintaining our online stores. So what are some of the key selling points I should include in my proposal?

Interesting, but didn't really give me the answers I am looking for. So let me ask a different way..

What are some of the great features you love about CF8? And what does CF8 have that PHP doesn't (if any)?

The argument that usually seals the deal for me is.... "look at the actual code. Even a manager can read it". And then go on to explain that it is much easier to maintain than the corresponding PHP code, etc. etc.

Is it completely true? Not always. Does the argument work? Nearly always.

That last post was by me. Looks like my login was screwed up.

Anyway, look at the scenario from your boss' point of view. They are going to be concerned with what??? Maintainability, Speed of Development, Flexibility, and of course, cost.

Systematically approach those four areas and you will develop a strong argument.

EnergyFed,

The only good thing about PHP is that it is open source.

But when it comes to flat learning curve and rapid application development Coldfusion has more merits than all the other web development languages.
