Google computer ergonomics for information on how to prevent this. In my case, the problem was with my forearm. The solution was to switch from a mouse to a trackball and to start doing more with the keyboard and less with the trackball/mouse.

Get up, stretch and walk around frequently. Make sure you have a good chair. Ask for a raise.

A number of employees in our offices had complained about neck & back pain - so we have invested in a number of ergonomic office furniture solutions. We also issued advice & instructions on workplace exercise & stress reduction classes. I'd suggest having a word with your HR department or investing in suitable ergonomic furniture

If you think that's bad, I tried using PHP once. That caused me a substantial pain in the arse.

Ho ho.

If you feel pain, you're not working hard enough

Is important that you have ergonomically correct furniture. Sit straight and keep in mind the monitor should not be too high or too low so your neck can be in a comfortable position.
