When I try to access the ColdFusion Admi I get the message,"You are not authorized to view this page...HTTP 401.1 - Unauthorized: Logon Failed due to invalid credentials (Internet Information Services)".

Why is this happening?

The Micosoft IIS website that the ColdFusion Adiminstrator is running under has "Microsoft Windows Intergrated Security" turned on, and YOUR Microsoft Windows user account does not have permission to access it.

And|Or you are using a non-Microsoft windows browser that does not support Microsoft Windows Integrated Security header challenges and responses.

Thank you for the quick reply  Ilssac.

I'm not familiar with Windows Integrated Security and whether I should just turn it off

on the Coldfusion Administrator.     Where would I turn it off?

My windows user account has full Admin rights to the server though,  and I am running IE7.

What do you suggest I do to get around this problem?

Well ColdFusion administrator is not going to do you much good as this is a setting of the Microsoft IIS Web Server application.

Windows Integrated Security is one of the security options in IIS that will allow a user using a Microsoft browser on a Microsoft client OS to connect through a Microsoft domain to a Microsoft IIS web site and pass the user's Microsoft creditionals automatically and silently to control access to web resources.

Whether you turn it on or off in the IIS Management Console is up to why one may or may not be using it.  But it is good to note for new users of the feature that it can be turned on and|or off at the Web Site level, the directory level and the individual file level.
