Problem with CFSearch

Explorer ,
Jan 26, 2009 Jan 26, 2009
For some reason a few weeks ago we started getting errors with our verity collection on CFMX. "There was a problem executing the CFSearch tag with the following collections". This started after a windows update but we can't find a fix. we have to keep going in and manually remove and recreate the collection. any advice is welcome.

Is there anything more useful in either the JRun or the CF logs?

Have you tried backing out whatever it was that Windows Update updated, and
see if that fixes it? I'm not suggesting that's a permanent solution, but
it might give you something better to google on.

that's a good point, sorry kind of a newbie. i did find this

The description for Event ID ( 105 ) in Source ( ColdFusion MX 7 Search Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: ColdFusion MX 7 Search Server.

from what i can tell when i google that, i need to reinstall the server but this is a prod machine and backing out of windows updates or reinstalling is a last resort. thanks!

Did you test the Windows updates in a lab environment before applying them
to the production server?

You should be able to just reinstall Verity; it doesn't take very long, and
it's probably less intrusive than having the errors.

One can download the installer from the Adobe site... I don't have the URL
to hand, but in the past when I've needed it I've just used Google to
search the Adobe site (it's more reliable than Adobe's own site search).

It could be load related or data related or something like that. At least
you *did* test things first!

It won't help you understand what went wrong, but it might just sort it out
and get you going. Not an elegant solution, but a quick one. Maybe.
