Problems with 7.0.2 Install

Contributor ,

I am trying to install the 7.0.2 version (downloaded from the Adobe website) onto a server using VMWARE running Windows 2003 R2 SP2.

I have tried multiple times installing silently and configuring the webserver manually. No errors, but when I go to open up the administrator, I immediately receive the password pop-up. I know,. probably a permissions issue, (am having the SA verify that I truely have admin rights) but . . . I have noticed looking at the services that I only see a listing for 'ColdFusion MX 7 Application Server', and not one for 'ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server'. I should get a 'ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server' listing in Services, right? Any ideas?

ODBC services should show up after you run the configuration wizard by opening the administrator the first time.

That's what I thought . . .
I have tried several other times today, again with no luck. The install log file shows zero (0) errors, but shows only the 'ColdFusion MX 7 Application Server' service starting.
Here is a copy of my install.properties file (I have replaced the SILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER and SILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD fields):

# Install is silent
INSTALLER_UI=SILENT
#
# License information - full | trial | developer
SILENT_LICENSE_MODE=full
SILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=xxx000-00000-00000-00000
#SILENT_PREV_SERIAL_NUMBER=xxx000-00000-00000-00000
#
# Configuration - standalone | jrun | ear | war
SILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=standalone
#
# Components to install
SILENT_INSTALL_ODBC=true
SILENT_INSTALL_VERITY=false
SILENT_INSTALL_SAMPLES=false
# (UNIX only) whether to start CFMX7 when booting
SILENT_CONFIGURE_SYSTEM_INIT=false
#
# Directories
SILENT_WEBROOT_FOLDER=e\:\\Inetpub\\wwwroot
SILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=e\:\\CFusionMX7
# EAR/WAR only
#SILENT_VERITY_INSTALL_FOLDER=
#
# Context root
#SILENT_CONTEXT_ROOT=
#
# Runtime user for UNIX
#SILENT_RUNTIME_USER=

SILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD=*********
#
# Flash forms - EAR/WAR only
SILENT_FLEX_ENABLED=false
#
# Enable RDS and password
SILENT_ENABLE_RDS=false
SILENT_RDS_PASSWORD=

I've verified that I have adminstrative permissions, disabled DEP, anti-virus software, and made sure that Windows Firewall was not running. Any thoughts?

I found a similar issue with CF8 that can be traced back to the installer (see post under Database Access named CF8 ODBC Server Service files missing). Could this also be a problem with 7.0.2? Since I am performing a silent install, does anyone know what the parameter is for the installer.properties file to install the documentation too?

Is it me or does this pathing look wrong:?

Directories
SILENT_WEBROOT_FOLDER=e\:\\Inetpub\\wwwroot
SILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=e\:\\CFusionMX7

Shouldnt it be:

e:\Inetpub\wwwroot
e:\CFusionMX7

From the 'Installing Marcromeddia ColdFusion MX 7 Silently' tech note, 'if you use a backward slash (\) in the file paths in the properties file on a windows system, you must excape them by using double backslashes (\\).

Has this been resolved? I don't see ODBC as an option in my Install of CF8 on Ubuntu...

I spend a couple of hours on the phone with a representative from Adobe's installation group, and we were unable to get this specific configuration to work. We tried about 10 times, and stopped short of installing the multi-server version.

I resigned myself to trying version 8 using VMWARE since that is supported.
