Hello,

Adobe ColdFusion 2018 support matrix offers support for Windows 2019 and SQL 2017. https://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/coldfusion2018-support-matrix.pdf .

When will CF2018 be adding support for SQL 2019 ?

Regards, Carl.

That just came out in November, right? It'll probably be a while. CF gets their SQL Server database driver from a third party, DataDirect. They've updated their JDBC driver to support SQL Server 2019, but I don't know how recently that happened. CF then has to test the DataDirect drivers after they get them, to see if anything gets broken.

All that said, you can use SQL Server 2019 today. I suspect that the existing DataDirect driver will actually work - it's just not certified. But even if it doesn't, you can download Microsoft's own JDBC driver and use that with the "Other" option in CF.

Adding to Dave's excellent reply, I will say for Carl's sake that judging from past experience, such updated support may not happen until CF2020, though perhaps it could make it into an update to CF2018 before or as well. It may not happen at all for CF2016.

I know you are seeking Adobe’s answer, Carl (and you are diligent to ask this whenever a new Windows or SQL Server version comes out, if I am remembering correctly). Sadly, there's no guarantee you will get an answer from them here, but you may.

Yes Dave I probably should have said I have done my own CF2018 to SQL2019 testing via native CF JDBC driver and Microsoft JDBC driver added to CF.

True Charlie I might be just wishful thinking to get a support matrix change although as I recall Windows 2019 was added recently or at least after initial published support level.

Best, Carl.
