Could someone please tell me why is < converted to < ;

[Guest]

I m facing issues in my application because < , > and  "  are being converted to &lt , &gt and &quot respectively.
Please tell me why this happens and how to prevent it from happening.

Can you provide some sample code so we can see where this is happening?  Also, what version/patch level of ColdFusion?
