I've spent 5 days trying to get the "Chart Wizard" to create a simple chart on a report.

It simply does not work.

There is nothing I can do that does not result in this error message:

An error occurred while trying to create a chart on this report.

Ensure that the column(s) selected for the chart series are numerical values. Error: The chart could not be generated due to an error in the graphing engine.

Yes, the chart wizard works. I have used it occasionally.

Without knowing what you are doing it is difficult to guess where you're going wrong.

I know it is tedious, but take a screenshot of each step you take in the wizard and post them here so we can see what you see.

Cheers

I'm having the same issue since migrating to CF2016.. using Colfusion Report Builder 10.282452.

ps: I know that Adobe discontinued CF Report Builder in this release, but shouldn't it still work with the Chart code?

1) When you open up an existing report (.cfr)

2) When you click on chart, the wizard opens fine, you can create your query fine, but two windows are blank?

Is there a way to actually see the charting code that ColdFusion is creating?

Thanks to the excellent help & troubleshooting tips of Rahul Upadhyay at Adobe support, we figured this out!

  1. Delete the Chart(s) from off the page
  2. Do a "Save As" new report
  3. Add the Chart(s) back onto the page

So far, this has allowed my reports to start working again.

Here is a recap of my problem (I migrated from CF9 to CF2016):

  • All of my reports w/o Charts worked fine after the migration
  • But all of my reports w/ Charts would crash?
  • We figured out that it was the reports (.cfr) that were corrupted

Having this exact problem with ColdFusion 2018. I've tried the exact steps above as well as creating a brand new report containing just a pie chart- no luck!
