Whatever is supported wherever your production site will reside.

I recommend SQL Server or Oracle. Both are well supported by ColdFusion and

are popular choices in the CF community.

I've used SQL Server for many years, and never had a complaint. There's

an Express version that's free for development as well. IIRC, it may

even be free for small production uses. Depends on whether your

production environment already has something in place you could use.

Microsoft SQL Server Express can be used in production, as long as you recognize its limitations.  This blog post gives a good summary of those limitations for modern versions of Express: https://logicalread.com/sql-server-express-as-a-production-database/

I'm totally guessing, but I think that "accountishacked" has been compromised, and someone posted a blank response to a 7 year old thread - for what reason, I cannot fathom.

Doh!  Didn't notice the date disparity there.  Oh well.
