Color Space is Wrong !

Recently I am having problems with Color Space in Both PS and Bridge.  The Meta data on my file shows Color space being sRGB IEC31966-2.1   Yet if I choose the same working color space in PS the colors all come out Wrong !  All other apps show correct colors when I open the same file.   Only if I select View-Proof Setup-Monitor, then colors become correct...This is even a problem when Working Color space is the same as what is indicated in the Meta data.  I suspect there is a BUG in PS or Bridge or both..?

Can someone verify this ?

The Windows file explorer is not color managed, and an not be expected to display correct colors.

Irfanview is not color managed by default, but color management can be enabled in Options > Properties/Settings.

Note that the embedded profile does not have to match the RGB working space. The embedded profile will override the working space, and color management ensures that correct colors are displayed. Colors will be converted from the embedded profile to the monitor profile.

It's unlikely to be a bug on such an industry-standard application. There are some colour management experts on here who no doubt will offer some advice and information. In the meantime can you indicate the (exact) version of Photoshop and OS and whether you have calibrated your monitor and used a profile.

I am using the latest of all CC apps.  PS: 26.3.0 Release,  Bridge : 15.0.2.432  The OS is Windows 10  (all updates installed).  Win Explorer and other apps have no problem showing the correct sRGB color as attached thumbnails show.   Interestingly when both file and PS color match, it still displays incorrect colors until I select Monitor in View-Proof Setup.  When I open Bridge it shows same color as Explorer in Thumbnails but instantly reverts to wrong colors...

I asked the same question in Bridge Forum but no answers yet.

I suspect that the image does not have an embedded profile (untagged).

Open the image in Photoshop, and choose Document profile from the flyout menu in the bottom left corner or the window. What does it say?

Proofing to monitor RGB disables color management, and just sweeps the problem under the carpet.

Yes Both Color Space set in PS and the file have the same Color Profile sRGB IEC6161966-2.1 (See attached).  As you can see how PS displays it and another app (irfanview).  Explorer also shows the same color as the third party app.  What's more Windows Photos app is also in agreement with Explorer and  Irfanview.  This problem is also present in Bridge.

If Photoshop and Bridge display wrong colors, this could be caused by defective monitor profile, or a bug in the GPU driver.

To begin with, try setting the monitor profile to sRGB (use Adobe RGB if you have a wide gamut monitor).

If this fixes the issue, you should ideally calibrate your monitor with a hardware calibrator.

This will also create and install a custom monitor profile that contains an accurate description of your monitor's color response.

Close all color managed applications. (PS, Bridge etc.)

Press the Windows key + R, type colorcpl in the box and press Enter.

Add the sRGB (or Adobe RGB) profile, then set it as default.
