Image color distortion in Photoshop on Mac

Hi there,

I am facing an issue with image colors, as I shot with Canon EOS 90D in RAW and JPEG, when I open images in Preview on my mac and also in Photoshop I can see color distortion. I have been trying to play with the settings, but as I am new to photoshop, not able to find out how to make it look as it is supposed to. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We are sorry about the experience due to Photoshop. Would you mind elaborating the color distortion you are referring to? It would be helpful if you could attach a screenshot with the original post so that we can check whats happening. Also, please share the version of Photoshop you are using along with your computers macOS version.

There would be some difference in color between the JPEG shot from the camera and the Raw file since with most cameras, the Jpeg is a processed file while the Raw file is unprocessed. Hence, is you are comparing the Jpeg preview of the file with the Raw file, you would observe some difference in the colors.

If you use a software to calibrate your computer screen or use a specific color profile, you can try changing the color profile for your monitor to sRGB to check if that helps. You can check: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-your-displays-color-profile-mchlf3ddc60d/mac

Hi there,

1. The photoshop version is 21.1.2

2. Mac OS is 10.15.4

3. Display profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 on MacBook Pro, but I tried to change it to some others..

I understand the difference between RAW and JPEG is normal, but what I really can not get is when I open RAW image in Canon Digital Photo Professional 4 and Adobe Photoshop the difference is huge.

Hi,

So I tried to change display profile in order to get the real color of my image, now I set it to the Color LCD,

I will attach two photos, one is I open in Canon App the other in Photoshop, as well as the settings.

I read on web that Canon DPP is able to read the image settings like white-balance, picture styly, high iso noise ruduction, etc.,

so the third party apps in my case Photoshop is not able to get those settings and use defaults, not sure if I am correct with that..

HI

Ideally your display screen should be calibrated and profiled.

If the display profile is accurate you can trust Photoshop to do the colour management properly.

That way you can assess whether its the canon software that’s causing the issue.

ColorLCD is a Mac profile, right? So I am guessing you don't have a calibrator for the screen?

sRGB is not the right choice generally, apart from when troubleshooting.

That type of display profile (named "ColorLCD") is made automatically by OSX, It can get corrupted, to fix that - you can delete it (in system preferences /displays / color) and restart the Mac, it should make a new one.

Does the issue persist?

You should ideally assess display appearance in Photoshop using a standard testimage -

images from a camera are not good for this
