ADOBE CONNECT: Difficulty enabling single speaker

New Here ,
Apr 13, 2020 Apr 13, 2020

We are navigating ongoing audiable voicemail disturbances during Adobe Connect webinars. I have tried to navigate around this by choosing AUDIO > enable single speaker, although I do not have that option as a host in my Adobe Connect room. Any thoughts on why I cannot enable this function?

Thanks!

Single Speaker Mode is a VoIP setting. It sounds like you are using integrated telephony, and that setting wouldn't apply.

Most integrated telephony solutions have an option called something like Lecture Mode that allows just the Host on the phone bridge to speak, but it varies from provider to provider. Some provider's integration provides this feature in the Audio menu, and some required you to use the phone commands to enable it.

It is also worth noting that most providers have the setting that requires people joining to press 1 to join the call. This prevents the dreaded voice mail situation. I'd recommend you reach out to your provider to see how to enable that function on your phone bridge.

Jorma_at_CoSo thanks for your reply.

Ideally we'd like to resolve the voicemail issue and not need the work around using the Enable Single Speaker mode. Right now all users are instructed to have the AC system call them. Often for an unknow reason at least 1 users phone doesn't register the call and it goes stright to voiemail and is heard throught the meeting, which of course is highly disruptive. Is this voiemail issue something I as a host can resolve or do I need my AC admin's assistance?

Thank you!

You need to talk with the teleconferencing provider. This is a setting on their end, not an Adobe Connect setting. Do you know which audio provider you are using?

The audio provider I use has a setting as follows that can be enabled or disabled, but requires the user to press 1 when the bridge calls them. If this is on, then there will never be a voicemail on the line, as it will never press 1.

I see, yes I'm using Arkadin for my audio bridge. Our AC admin has put out a message to Arkadin yesterday, hoping to hear back today.

I'm glad to hear that there is a way to ensure user voicemail will not be broadcast over audio. Are you using a different audio confrencing system than Arkadin?

On a side note. If I'm using a layout specifially for polls and navigate back to a sharing layout where I share my computer screen, will I need to click the drop down to reshare each time I return from another layout - or will my screen share persist?

Thank you!

I don't work much with Arkadin audio, sorry. I can't imagine they don't have a setting for human verification when having the bridge call out, but stranger things have happened.

I use MeetingOne more than the rest. I've worked with them for many years and know the team there well. The screen grab above is a setting I can toggle off or on in my bridge's web managment tool.

The trick with something like screen sharing is to use a concept of layering pods. In layout A you would have the Share pod as the primary pod where you can share your screen. Then in layout B, you would take that same share pod and hide it behind another pod. It doesn't need to be big, as no one will see it. Just size it to be the same size or smaller than another pod and place the other pod on top of it. Then you can can start sharing your screen in layout A, switch from the mini controller back to looking at the Meeting, and then transition between layous A and B while never stopping your screen sharing.

I have a call today with Arkadin, hoping to find out if they have that human authetication you mentioned to avoid the voicemail issue.

Thank you SO much for your reply about layering pods for a seamless screen share. It worked brilliantly!

LATEST

Update: Received a user guide from Arkadin, which does allow for the host to mute users via my phone (*2).

Breakout Room Audio: Breakouts have run smooth for us the past 10 months, recently after evenly distributing users into 2 breakout rooms, one user's audio would not connect into either of the rooms. I clicked and dragged the user into both rooms and the user's audio remained in the main meeting. Is this because of how that particular user called in? Any way to remedy this on the spot moving forward?
