Flash Icon Next to Participant Name Since Update

Ever since our Connect was updated, we have been seeing the Flash icon next to some participants names in the Attendee list.  Does anyone know what this means?

We also have issues with people not being able to use their microphones after running the audio wizard.  This is happening to participants with and without the Flash icon, so I don't know if it's actually related.

Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated!

Should add that we turned off HTML access, and force our participants to download the app.

The Flash icon next to their name means that they are in the room in Classic (Flash) mode. This can happe a few ways, even if you have the room set to Standard only. This is because, as of right now, Classic mode is the fall back or safety net for users in Connect. I have found the following scenarios that ends up with users in the room in Classic mode when Standard is selected:

  • The user is on a Mac computer. The App for Mac is still Classic mode only.
  • The user only has the older App. This App only has Classic mode.
  • The user is on a 32 bit Windows computer. The new App is 64 bit only, 32 bit windows users can only use the older App.

There may be other scenarios, but I've nailed down those three.
