Poor Audio Quality of Blue Snowball with Connect

I am trying to use a Blue Snowball mic with Connect, with appalling sound quality. With other software (e.g. Camtasia) sound quality is great, so the mic is OK.

My suspicion is a sampling mismatch, as Snowball uses a fixed 16bit / 44.1 kHz setting. Can I configure this in Connect?

Found the solution myself. In preferences, the option "use improved audio" (or similar - I use the German version, there it is: Voreinstellungen > Mikrophon > "Verbessertes Audio verwenden") needs to be disabled.
