Hmmm ... doesn't anyone know, or is it so obvious it's not worth replying?

I don't believe that the issue that it's obvious. I believe the issue is that you are asking about a version that not many people have used since 2007. Since IE 8 was released in 2009, if there are issues with it, it was unforseen by the product team when they were working on it, and any resolution would have come with Connect 7.

Are you seeing any specific issues?

If memory serves, C6 worked just fine with IE8, but just like Jorma says, it hasn't been utilized much as the newer versions left it behind a couple of years ago. With C7, C6 SP3 started to fade into the background mid 2009. I doubt there are very many installations of C6 still running anywhere.

That being said, the browsers haven't been significant impediments to funtionality over the years. I think you'll be just fine with 8. It would have been fairly heavily utilized with 6, as it was released early 2009.

Thanks, Corry and Jorma.  The customer I am working with is still using v6 (and doesn't want to upgrade soon ).  We are upgrading their users to IE8 (from IE6).  (Yes, things happen very slowly there!)  Hence the question.

Since my original post we have done some tests and have not seen any issues with IE8, so with your additional assurance, things look OK.

I don't disagree with them. If the app is working and stable, the only reason to upgrade would be to either alleviate issues they may be encountering that are fixed with a newer version, or for the increased functionality of a recent version. If neither of those are relevant to them then I wouldn't upgrade just for the sake of upgrading.

That being said, I'd be a bit concerned about the upgrade process for them. To get to C9 now would be a bit of an undertaking from C6, lord only knows how much more difficult that process might become if the versions continue to get further away from them. Are they at least running SP3 on the application?
