CC app refuses to update (again)

I am so sick and tired of this happening: The CC app tells me that there is an update available (in this case LR Classic) but when I click on the "update" button nothing happens. I keep having this problem intermittently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I am at the point of losing my patience with Adobe. I pay them a subscription fee every month to use their software and receive updates as they are released. How many times do I need to uninstall the Creative Cloud app, download it again, and reinstall it?

How many times do I have to ask this same question before Adobe addresses the issue?

When using the Creative Cloud app on my Mac the update function works sometimes, but more often it does not. I click on the "update all" link or on the "update" button for each app where CC indicates an update is available, and absolutely nothing happens. This has happened dozens of times.

On those occasions where it actually does work, I always get the authentication popup (for my logon password) TWICE.

reset the cc desktop app: make sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

to see if there's something easily repairable with your cc app.

p.s.  it's far from clear that it's an adobe issue.
