PDapp.exe error message for Sign In Now / how to generate request code

I successfully installed my CS6 on a new computer, but when I choose Product Registration and Sign In Now, I get an error message that PDapp.exe has encountered a serious problem and the registration window closes.  (It seems a no-option endless loop!)  After much reading online, I think my best and easiest option would be offline registration, but I cannot find any other method of registering except that dialogue box which crashes.  I see I need to generate a request code, but I cannot find out how in the software to do that.  Any help immensely appreciated.

you can no longer register cs6.  it's also unnecessary.

 

you need to install and activate (with your serial number).  any questions?

Clearly you do not understand.

 

I HAVE installed it.  It DID accept my serial number.  It IS NECESSARY to register it because it is going to time out and STOP WORKING in SEVEN DAYS.  The computer it used to be on is DEAD AND GONE.  I want to keep using it as I spent decades using Adobe programs, but I will switch to open source programs before I pay a subscription.

 

Please feel free to move the post to better its response level.  Anybody else have any ideas who understands?  Please re-read the original post for the part about why I cannot get past the registration block.

First, thank you for sticking with me.  It is very kind of you to want to help.

 

No, no CC ever on this computer.

 

I didn't want to complicate the issue, as I don't think this has to be relevant, BUT maybe I should approach this from a completely different angle.

 

The CS6 is Windows.  My old computer's keyboard died, and so I bought a new one... a Linux computer using Ubuntu.  I LOVE IT, BUT... for the few Windows programs I hate to lose, I have to run them in something called WINE (A virtual PC environment, so to speak).  Illustrator CS6 (which is want I mostly want to use) runs great in WINE, except for the part about connecting to the internet and registering.   That's when I get the aforementioned error.  I was HOPING there was a way to validate my purchased copy by bypassing that error because I think it is even less likely I could get CS6 to connect correctly to the internet through WINE.

 

At any rate, the error blocks my registering in the only way I can find to do so, and the software will stop working now in 6 days.  The idea of wiping it and reinstalling it every 7 days is horrific.  I have a lifetime (I'm 57 and used PageMaker 1.0) of Adobe files that I want to access.  But I will not RENT software, especially when I paid a big price for Adobe software I own and that is more than adequate.  I used to be an Adobe Service Provider.

running in a virtual environment is relevant and significant.  the hardest part is getting your cs6 apps to work, at all.

 

assuming they are working normally (albeit in trial mode), i suggest opening one of the apps > click help and double check to see what's clickable, activate or deactivate.  or is sign-in/sign-out visible.

 

or even better, copy and paste a screenshot of what you see after clicking help.

So, yes, my Illustrator CS6 is running flawlessly in trial mode in my system (except for registration error).  That's one reason this is so frustrating.  I feel SO CLOSE to be able to keep using Adobe.  (I've moved to free open source with everything else; Adobe is the hardest thing to let go of given my proficiency in using it.)

 

I am attaching what you suggested.  Dialogue Box 1 shows the registration option that comes up.  Very much like you were indicating, I have searched for within the software for any other way to bring up anything else about registration, but after much time, this is the only option I can find.  I mean, it's meant to be simple, right?  Sign in or don't sign in and register.

 

When I click the Sign In, the software whirs for a while then the Dialogue Box 2 appears.  Only one option there, and when I select Show Details, I get the text file I've attached.  (Gibberish to a end-user like me.)

 

To me, that's the brick wall.  Obviously you can see the software currently will time out in 5 days.

 

I love the direction you're going with trying to get the software to register another way.  I've been looking and looking, and it's why I'm on here, hoping someone knows something about another menu or dialogue box.  Or even how to somehow update the Windows registry (is it?) on the virtual C drive, but I think to do that I would need a response code generated, and I cannot find how to make CS6 even generate that.

Should have said clearly that I did input the serial number when I installed and was accepted by CS6 without glitch.

did you update any of the cs6 apps or are they all base versions (eg, ai 16.0.0)?

 

if none are updated, close all cs6 apps.

disconnect your computer for the internet.

start a cs6 app (eg, ai)

copy and paste what you see

Excellent suggestion!  (Embarrased I didn't think of it.)  Thank you.

 

Certain it's base version 16.0.0. and WINE would be simulating the most up-to-date Windows (7, I think).  Easily cause problems.

 

I apologize for the delayed response.  Doesn't mean I don't appreciate you!!  Life got busy, but I did try to a couple things.  When I selected updates from help menu I got:

Attempted twice with same results.  Then I tried checking version using About Illustrator.  Disaster; it completly froze my operating system!  (Discovery of glitch 2!)  Don't get any version info on open only:

I'm gonna think about and research if there's another way to get updates applied, but as important as this is to me (down to 3 days before entire reinstall), I have a lot scheduled today.  Will post again, and will value any new thoughts from you anytime!  Thank you again for all of your time that you've given!!!

Offline activation complete.  As YOU already realize, I was blocked by my flawed assumption that since the software couldn't connect to the internet to register, that it couldn't see the internet connection at all.

 

I really don't know how to thank you.  I've had my Linux laptop for over 2 years (and though it had a huge learning curve, I'm NO WAY EVER going back to Mac/Windows), and Adobe Illustrator was the very LAST program I just HAD to get working on it.  (GIMP will handle raster files well, but Inkscape is a vector nightmare.)  I can FINALLY breathe a sigh of relief that I can access ALL my former files from my earlier lifetime.  I have endless CS3 Illustrator files, and of course, tons of Illustrator 10 files and earlier, and the easy majority of them not work related but for personal reasons.  It's amazing how many files you can generate in 30+ years and how reliant you become on a program.

 

I'm always amazed when someone takes time to help a complete stranger.  You are awesome, and I sincerely wish you blessings reflected back of equal measure for your kindness.  It sounds extreme, but you have truly changed my life.  You've lifted a total dread from my heart.  Most grateful!!!!!

You have an uphill battle here, and you will not get support for running obsolete software on an unsupported hardware configuration. I'm not being mean here, just stating that the errors you are having may not be solvable unless others that run Wine and CS6 have some suggestions for you. Based on a quick googlesearch, many reports are many years old.

It is true that online activation may not be functionable anymore, so the only possible thing I might suggest you try is the offline activation approach. Read here: https://exception.licenses.adobe.com/aoes/aoes/v1/t1?locale=en

I have no idea if that system is still functioning, but it's your only shot.

Thank you, Brad, for adding your voice.  Overall this has been much more response to my question that I ever expected.  Grateful.

 

That said, I am already intimately familiar with that link you provided.  I've also been to the WINE applications database and in line with their findings, I have been able to use my Illustrator CS6 in my new system without noticing even a glitch (other than the obvious registration one), which is saying something since I know that program so well.

 

Truly, the only thing standing in my way of still using decades of files is the software confirming I have a purchased copy.  (I mean I COULD reinstall the entire thing every 7 days.)  Once over that seemingly simple hurdle, I'm running.

 

Your comment has sparked a new path to explore in that perhaps I need to try to get whatever old IE I could get to run in WINE, and perhaps the error would resolve if the Adobe software could connect to the web through WINE.  Thank you for that spark.
