My team at work are using a shared Library to keep our designs consistent. We share colors, graphics, and character styles. If our graphic standards change, we can easily right-click on a Color or Graphic in the Library and choose Edit to update that item and it will update everyone's documents automatically.
The problem we are running into is that there doesn't seem to be a way to edit Character Styles in the Library. We have tried updating the style in a document and pushed it to the Library with the same file name hoping it would over-write the old style but it doesn't. We end up with two Character Styles with the same name just different properties. Then we have to go through every document and manually apply the new Character Style which we think defeats the purpose of the Library.
Is there something we are doing wrong or is the edit feature just not available for Character Styles in the Library? If the Edit option isn't available has anyone found a work-around to edit a Character Style in the Library so our documents will automatically update?
The edit feature isn't yet available for Character and Paragraph Styles. The styles are also not linked to the styles in the document.
Is there any update, or plan to add support for editing Character and Paragraph Styles in the Library?
I have the exact same issue. Working on a graphic profile for a company with different A-format templates and would really really be convenient if our paragraph-styles were synced (so if editing in one doc, all others were updated) and editable.
I am also waiting on this feature.
It will be very helpful.
Still waiting on this feature also!
+1 — this would be a really valuable feature
I've just searched for this exact same feature as well — 6 years in the making and it better be bl00dy good when it finally happens!
If they haven't done it by now, doesn't seem likely they ever will.
Still waiting for this feature too!
Then we have to go through every document and manually apply the new Character Style which we think defeats the purpose of the Library.
This x 1000
Well this is annoying - quite possibly one of the most potentially useful features of cc libraries - both for indivusal designers wanting to save time and for teams to share resources, and Adobe don't look like they can be bothered to develop it. After six years I think we can assume its dead. Ho hum.
