HDR edit in LrC not visible in adobe portfolio!

I love the capabilities to edit in HDR in LrC!  But when I create a collection  and share it to bring images to my adobe portfolio, or when I export the images as JPEG XL or AVIF, the images just don't have the pop they have on LrC even when using the same monitor.  Am I doing something wrong? or there is no way to share the same stunning bright quality of HDRs I get in the library or develop module in LrC in adobe portfolio or behance?

JPEG XL has almost NO browser support at this time and is thus NOT recommended for use on the web.  Non-Safari users can't see them. 😝

Adobe Portfolio has limited support. If you upload a gain map directly (not via LR integration) and then view it at the largest size, it will show HDR. But full support is not there yet.

Having support requires the website and browser both supporting the HDR file format. That means things are very mixed at the moment. The only format I would recommend on the web at this time is JPG with a gain map. It is 100% safe on any service or device, and the gain map ensures the image will look great at any level of HDR support. 

It is a common misconception that gain maps are a hack to add HDR support to JPG and that we do not need them for formats like AVIF or JXL. While they do help JPG (given bit depth), they critical benefit is that gain maps allow your image to look great on any display - even if it has little or no HDR support. Without a gain map, automatic tone mapping will be used - resulting in a low quality expereince for people with a less capable monitor than yours.

In about a year, we should be able to safely share AVIF images with a a gain map. Once support is high enough, that gain map format will be a better choice than JPG. But we aren't there yet.
