I am using Creative Cloud 2015 at work. I want to use this from my home office too but I do not want to use the sync feature as I do not have room on my local drive for 5000+ large files. I want to download few files from CC on a as needed basis, work on them localy, then upload the files back to CC when I am done with editing so that they can be synced and accessed at my work computers. What steps do I need to follow on my home office computer (iMac osX Yosemite) ? I have installed the neccessary CC applications on my home office computer already.

Hi Kiko,

You can Download and install Adobe Creative Cloud apps on your home machine.

Just turn off the Sync feature for the cloud.

With Sync feature turned off, how would I download a file from Creative Cloud or upload a file to Creative Cloud? When Sync feature is turned off (disabled) in the preferences of Creative Cloud Desktop, the Assets tab no longer shows the buttons for opening creative cloud folder or accessing the web. These buttons appear only when Sync is enabled.

You are right.

To access files over the cloud you would need the sync feature.

Hi Sheena, So you are saying it would not be possible to use Creative Cloud the way I am planning to use it from my home office computer? That is I cannot selectively download few files on as needed basis to work from my "home" computer, then when done upload these files back to Creative Cloud to sync with "other computers at work" ?

So the work around may be either to walk around hanging a usb stick on my neck to copy what I need to the stick, work on these files at "home", then when done copy these files back to the creative cloud folder at "work" ; or use a 3rd party cloud service such as Dropbox to follow similar process as with a usb stick? But this will defeat the purpose of having Creative Cloud. Is there not a web access method to Creative Cloud similar to Dropbox that can work without a sync folder or client app. on the desktop?

Kiko, you can download selective files and then upload them as well.

But for that you will need to do that from the web as the desktop app works on syncing feature.

You can login to your Adobe account and under the Assets section you can access your files.

Hi Sheena, You may not be very familiar with the Creative Cloud product and thus not able to provide all the details, but I sincerely thank you for reaching out trying to help me. Upon discussion with a colleague of mine, the following steps seem to answer my question:

Disable the Sync feature using the Preferences in Creative Cloud Desktop app. (as you had also mentioned). It is important to understand the distinction of what is meant by Creative Cloud Desktop app. from a Creative Suite app. such as Illustrator that also happens to be a desktop app. The Creative Cloud Desktop is a control dashboard type of app. that can be used to launch various other Adobe apps - like Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. - check and upgrade Adobe apps. when they are available, install other Adobe apps. from the Creative Suit such as InDesign, specify name and location of the creative cloud folder that is used for Syncing if it is enabled (in my case it is not), and perform many other account management tasks.
Go to Creative Cloud Assets page on the web at URL https://assets.adobe.com/files and login to my Adobe ID. You had mentioned this too, but did not provide the URL that is vital. Simply logging in with my Adobe ID I am not able to locate this page automaticaly.
The Assets page lists all my files and folders that I saved to the cloud (5000+ files). I can download selective files from here to my "home office" computer, BUT ... there is a catch here. How to download is not obvious, but how to upload is. I am presented with "upload" choice from the pulldown "Actions" menu at upper right of the page, but how to download? Each of the file icon has a pulldown menu too for tasks such as "move", "rename", etc. but there is nothing for "download". It so happens that I have to first open the file (by clicking on its icon) into a file viewer page where the "Actions" pulldown menu provides me a "download" choice for the file.
Now with the neccessary file downloaded to my "home office" computer, I can continue to work on a project from my "home office".
When I am ready to head back to "work", I can upload this file to Adobe Creative Cloud again by simply going to the Assets page on the web, logging into my Adobe ID, and then selecting "upload" from the "Actions" pulldown menu at upper right of the page. Doing this will instantly Sync the creative cloud folders of the computers I use at "work".

Please feel free to add any further details to the above listed steps. I am new to this forum, this was my first request for help. I see that there is a point system for correctly answering a question; I am not sure who gets the points here, I am just happy I now have a good answer. Have a great day.
