Repeated "Some files failed to sync"

Creative Cloud Files sync stopped working weeks ago. It was working previously.

When I add new files in my local folder, they get a red warning on their icon and Creative Cloud app reports "Some files failed to sync".

I deleted the "options.tix" file, as suggested in other topics here, but this did not fix the issue.

I can provide the CoreSync log file. Here are relevant lines, with end of file path obfuscated:

I'm on Mac OS X 10.9.5 with latest version of Creative Cloud.

Hi,

Please refer to Error: "Unable to sync files" to find out about what is supported in this new release. It may be the case your still using unsupported characters in your folder or files names.

Thanks

Hi Bonzon,

Can you send me your full Creative Cloud log to me at harress@adobe.com please, I will examine your log in better detail. Could you also supply some information on steps or actions your took to see these errors?. I will also open a bug on our systems for this issue.

Thanks

Warner

I sent the log to Warner and he found the issue. He says it will be fixed in a future release of Creative Cloud.

The problem is due to accented letters in file and folder names, aka double byte Unicode characters. They are currently not supported by Adobe. As soon as any character in a filename - or any of its parent folders - has an accent, syncing fails. E.g. the ç in "François" should be changed to "Francois".

Using only ASCII letters is of no practical use to me, though. I already have a lot of files and folder names with accents, referenced in links when placing media files, so I can't change them without breaking a lot of things.

I'm surprised I didn't read before in Adobe help and documentation about this important limitation, in a "known issues" or similar section. Because it's been weeks since the syncing with accented letter fails.

Version 1.9.0.465 of Creative Cloud was released 2 weeks ago on 1/13/2015, but did not solve this issue with non-ASCII characters in filenames. I still see the same syncing errors.

Warner, what is the status, is it still being worked on?
