Adobe Digital Editions Distorts EPUB

The same EPUB exported from InDesign appears excellent in iBooks, but it is distorted in Adobe Digital Editions. In ADE, all text is displayed at a point size of 300. This is with Adobe CC (2014) on a Mac Pro running 10.9.4. Why would an EPUB preview fine in InDesign but look really terrible in Adobe Digital Editions?

I have been wondering about this for months!

I stopped using it altogether as a proof reader.

ADE is a mess, at least the version I am using on a Windows platform.

Almost seems like it is done by some cheap third party, so buggy, user unfriendly and poor design.
