I've come across several posts of people asking about a Read Out Loud function in Digital Editions. As a Librarian, I don't have to face hurdles with reading but want to support my patrons with dyslexia as best as possible. We are already forced to promote Digital Editions because publishers are scared nobody will buy books anymore if they make eBook available DRM free.
Adobe is doing rather well with accesibility issues with its other products. For example, take a look at this pro-active research: https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2021/05/06/hacking-readability-for-dyslexic-readers
So WHY is Digital Editions still a horror to work with for people facing reading hurdles? Why no Read out Loud function or reading ruler? Adobe has the technology in-house.
