Can't connect to the fulfillment server

I've tried downloading books to my ADE but every time I get an error message saying "can't connect to the fulfillment server". I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, downloading straight from the store page, saving the files to my Downloads file and uploading from there, but none of these fixes work. I am connected to the internet and my computer has been authorised. How do I fix this?
