Digital Editions crashes 'stopped working' message when trying to print

I have today installed ADE 4.5 on to a pc running under Windows 7 Professional. Have downloaded documents from Abobe and an online vendor of playscripts. I am authorised with a Adobe ID. I can view and read all documents on screen and all have the option to be printed. When I try to print the program crashes with error message 'Adobe Digital Editions 4.5 has stopped working'. I understand this to be a generic Windows message. I have tried uninstalling, cleaning up the registry, re-installing, all without any effect. Can anyone offer a solution.
