Every time I download books to my Kobo I run in to DRM issues. Rakuten provided me with a solution that involves 13 steps of uninstalling ADE, reinstalling, wiping my Kobo and backing it up etc etc.
I have to do this every single time I want new books. It's laborious and very time consuming. Is there another solution?

This is exactly what I have experienced; I can 'transfer' (ADE says copy and I don't understand why 'transfer' is specified in some advice) 1 book after a fresh installation of ADE and clearing all cookies, etc. from my browser. After that, I get a DRM failure.
I can not, ever, transfer a book I have previously received a DRM error on. ADE leaves some sort of trace somewhere that effectively 'locks' the title forever.
Obviously, the elaborate procedure necessary to transfer a book is not worth the trouble.
This is the second Kobo I've had this problem with; I abandoned a different unit a couple of years back -- just not worth the stress. So nothing has changed....
Sorry! No help here, just validation.
For me, the best choice is to abandon the entire Kobo project. I understand newer units work with Overdrive but, you know, good money after bad....
