Error: E_ACT_NOT_READY + Unable to deauthorize + unable to open .acsm files

My Adobe Digital Editions installation (4.5) is not opening .acsm files. This issue occurs with files from any source, including free Adobe ebooks. I get the following error message: "Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY" I have been seeing this error for almost a month, and nothing I do resolves it.

I have uninstalled ADE and reinstalled it. I tried deauthorizing my computer, but every time I try to deauthorize I get another error: "Unable To Erase Authorization. Please try again after some time." I have been getting this error for about 5 days.

Attempts to contact tech support resulted in a 20-minute chat where I was transferred to multiple departments, was greeted with the phrase "I can help you," and then told to go to the forums. As you might imagine, this is extremely frustrating.

I am running Mojave on a MacBook air.

    Remove the Adept Folder.
In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.
    Close the Registry Editor.

The Macintosh process works splendidly. Fixed the same problem I had. Obviously Adobe needs to work on fixing this which is a common problem.

Nanaky,

thanks a lot for your instructions. I don't know much about computer software but I did manage to follow your instructions and it worked! I authorised my ID on ADE and everything is perfect.

Hi there,

I tried to do the procedure but I can't find the Digital Editions folder in /Users/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ so I'm stuck. I contacted the ADE support and they told me to ask the forum. Ha sanyone had the same issue with Macintosh? My computer is running Sonoma 14.7.3.

Thanks in advance for your help!
