How do I add a new device to ADE?

I have purchased some books for my Sony eReader by Kobo.  I am unable to load them as they are ACSM files.  I have followed all the steps they sent back to me to load Adobe Digital Editions, but I don't get the "Devices" option at this point:

10. Connect your eReader to your computer and tap Connect.
11. In ADE, click the gear icon beside Devices. Click Authorize Device.
12. Select the account that you'd like to authorize your eReader with.  Click Authorize Device.
13. Click OK to complete the process.

Can you please advise.

Not all Sonys are detected with ADE. Try it with Reader for PC/Mac the Program for Sony.

Thanks Nanaky

I am actually using Reader for PC already.  There are only a few books that won't download and they all seem to be in the ACMS format.

I'll see if there are any updates for Reader.

Regards

I'm actually not sure.  I got further in there than previously, but it comes up with an error that their are network problems and I need to check my connection.  I've done that, including using a cable to connect directly to the modem without success.  Kind of at my wits end now and Kobo aren't offering me a refund!
