How to fix error activation limit exceeded when I haven't added anything new?

I'm trying to transfer library books to my ereader and Adobe says I've exceeded my activation limit but I haven't added any new equipment - how do I fix this?

yes, I don't even remember getting the subscription much less what I've used it for...(obviously I'm not a computer tech and I've wasted too much time trying to figure this out by myself!)
