I've installed adobe editions but it's not functioning. What can I do?

I had a lot of trouble getting it installed. I had purchased an ebook from Booktopia. The book is there in my adobe library but it won't let me do anything with it, ie I want to put it on an e reader. There are no options to do anything but  look at it.
