trouble downloading acsm A Digital Editions "unexpectedly stops"

I am trying to download an acsm file in Downloads (running Firefox) and everytime the download is complete Adobe Digital Editions comes back with a message that Adobe Digital Editions has "unexpectedly stopped".

I am running Safari on a Macbook Pro. Is this likelt to be a problem associated with Firefox? Until I get some discussion going I will close down Firefox nd run Safari instead.

Just as an experiment, I closed Firefox and then attempted a download of the acsm file from my Downloads folder. Success this time! I would still like to know however what the source of the initial problem was. Could it have anything to do with having Firefox running whilst also attempting a download?
