Randomly, ADE refuses to download to my Nook, what can I do?

i use Windows 7 and have not yet updated to latest Windows 10.
i always try to update immediately on all products but this time I'm going to seek professional assistance.
ive had trouble with downloads from ADE to Nook for several years, again, I've always promptly updated when directed.
A chat person shared a phone number & I received help the last time; now a recording says they no lojnger support ADE.
im open to any ideas.
