Unable to use Adobe Digital Editions on IMac

Getting the following message:  Unable to download   Error getting License.   License Server Communication Problem.  E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED

E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED can happen if the time or timezone settings of the machine are not correct.

(I think I even saw a comment somewhere that using a 12 hour clock rather than a 24 hour one broke it too,

but that may be a false memory or about some other program.)
