When will Adobe update Digital Editions?

I am sick of using Adobe Digital Editions as the only option for many of the e-books I download, both for personal books and for school literature. Why doesn't Adobe, who prides themselves in their software, update this seemingly ancient piece of software?

We literally need to start a petition for this because both the computer version and the app version is one of the worst things I have seen in modern time.

Happy to sign the petition. Totally agree, this programme is a disgrace. Yet, many of the bookstores do not allow you to get the book in any other format.
