Why cant i authorise my Mac?

Digital Editions just sits on the 'Authorizing Your Computer' screen with a status bar and "authorizing.." hanging.. how long should this take?

This seems to be an issue of version 4 on Mac os 10.9.5. Digital Editions 3 seems to work and Authroize fine.
