ADE to KOBO

According to the information from a chat agent, there is no subscription on my account. I'm not sure what this means. I have downloaded ADE on my computer, set up the computer with authorization, connected my kobo as an authorized device, in my kobo settings it shows I am logged in to my ADE account. I'm downloaded the book and opened it with ADE, dragged and dropped it into my Kobo reader, synced my Kobo reader. It is showing up as a book but I consistently get an error when trying to open, telling me the document is not authorized for use with my Adobe ID.
