adobe digital edition won't open

i have tried over several months to try and get this to work at first everything was fine when i downloaded version 4.5 but now it won't open. i have tried different versions of it 2.0 /3.0/ 4.0  but none of them work i can not get it to open so i can't access by books from the library.

i have tried several different fixes i have seen on here but nothing seems to be working. any help would be nice.

I’ve just downloaded this as well and I keep getting an error message LICENSE SERVER COMMUNICATION PROBLEM the helpline is absolutely useless!!
