Authorize computer

Just tried to authorize my computer, which it says to do so I can

"easily transfer Adobe DRM protected items between multiple computers and mobile devices."

After entering my Adobe ID and password then clicking authorize I received the message

"You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device." 

WHAT THE HECK! Is it me or are those two quotes diametrically opposed? How can I transfer between multiple devices if I can only authorize one? I did try Adobe support and was informed that ADE is an end of life product that they no longer support.
