Digital editions - total failure

I had used digital editions for 5 or more years on multiple devices and platforms with no problems. Recently, it began having problems which have gone from bad to worse. At first, I could eliminate the problem by uninstalling and re-installing the product. Now I cannot find any solution. I have had problems downloading books to my Nook. Multiple copies of books (as many as 6) returned to the library months (or in some cases more than a year ago) appear when digital editions open. AND now nothing happens when I download a book from my library. The book is in my download folder with the correct extension, but I cannot get it into my digital editions library or onto my Nook.

I would like to contact Adobe directly but cannot find a way to do that. 

I would appreciate any suggestions others have.

I uninstalled and re-installed ADE again and the download worked this time. However, I feel this only cured the symptom -- not the underlying problem with inconsistent results from ADE. Uninstalling and re-installing over and over is frustrating -- and time consuming.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I have contacted them via twitter @adobecare. They have thanks me for my patience and will get back to me once this has been resolved.. But no apology. FIVE DAYS later and nothing. I can't get into $300 worth of texts books to study... I am at a loss. What can I do???
