I am trying to erase my authorization to change it - as I keep getting a Check Authorization error when I try to load new library books - but cannot remember the password to the account. I have signed back into Adobe on line and changed the password but this did not help.
Is there some way to erase the authorization without the password?

I get exactly the same problem. The customer support staff was really not helpful at all.

Eureka! I finally did it and everything is running smoothly. I did the following;
1. Uninstalled 4.5 ADE
2. Installed the older version of 3.0 ADE
3. Then brought up the screen showing authorization information. Then pressed Ctrl, Shift (or arrow up key), and D and that completed the de-authorization. This method only works on the older version.
4. Then I uninstalled the 3.0 version and added the 4.5 version back on. This time when I authorized it, I wrote down my I.D. and password, lest I forget.

Hi, I have this big problem for many years and I can't use my reader book Kobo.
Do you use Mac for your solution?
Thank you

as of 2022, problem is now ADE 3.0 won't run on mac devices. Forces you to install 4.511 even if you are able to find the ADE 3.0 download.

You can do this without having to reinstall ADE or change versions.
You need to delete out a few registry keys to clear the activation for ADE. You must have administration authority.
On Windows it can be found here:
Open Windows Registry by using the command prompt and typing 'regedit' or by opening the start menu and searching for 'regedit'.
Search for the following folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept\Activation
The 'Activation' folder can be entirely deleted.
Restart ADE and it should be deactivated at this point.

Thank you. I will keep that info for future use. I was able to fix it in my convoluted way, but it took far too much time.

I had the same issue and deleting the registry key you mentionned worked like a charm 🙂
Thanks !
P.S. I also contacted support and they wanted me to buy the creative cloud upgrade! I'm not going to pay to read free books from the library!
