Hello everyone! Adobe Dimension 4.0 is now available for download from Creative Cloud!
Adobe Dimension 4.0 is being updated to incorporate some of the same underlying code components as Adobe Substance 3D Stager, particularly in areas like rendering, lighting, and material handling. This update puts Dimension on a more modern and maintainable codebase, ensuring the application is more stable and secure for users. Consequently, users will see some changes in the software – most notably in rendering capabilities and material workflow, as well as minor functionality and quality improvements throughout the application.
Here is an FAQ with more details on the changes:

The Adobe Dimension and Substance 3D Stager comparison FAQ page has also been updated:

I just tried to import an object in Dn 4.0.4, did get that dialogue.
I have seen it before, but dont remember what I did wrong.
Could you share that .obj file, so I can try to help you solve it.
In the meantime, you could try this, if you have Photoshop 2021 version 22.2 (which has a fully functional 3D) and open that obj file and save it back and then import from Dn 4.04.
Did you create that obj in illustrator? or download it from the web?
I know its frutrating, but hopefully your issue could be resolved. Good luck,
Could you share that .obj file.

Great. But when is the Apple Silicon version ready?

OMG. How naive... It's a pity, but I think never..

Oh, I know... It's that gentle reminder for them... But if Apple Silicon was some AI gimmick, they would push it tomorrow.

Adobe Dimension has not yet been fully optimized for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, or M3) as of version 4.04. It continues to run through Rosetta 2, which is Apple’s translation layer that allows Intel-based applications to run on Apple Silicon Macs. Although Dimension should still perform well, especially with Apple’s powerful M1, M2, or M3 chips, it is not taking full advantage of native optimizations that would make rendering even faster or more efficient.

The M class of chips was introduced in 2020. Adobe had already enough time to transition all their apps to a silicon based app, they just don't want to do it. The Dimension app will probably have the same fate as Xd, so I don't expect any new major updates.

Of course, I have no illusions that they will make a mac version. Unfortunately, mac users are no longer point of interest for them. It's also good that Photoshop, illustrator and InDesign are compatible with macs. However, I would not be surprised if one day all Adobe programs were optimized only for Windows.... Welcome to new reality..

I was on the phone with Adobe Tech support, I told tech for the last 2 years Adobe has been working on improving Adobe Dimension, made it a very robust app, why not optimize it to work on silicon Macs.
But no answer about optimizing it to run on M Macs.
One Adobe tech recommended to use The Substance Apps, but I explained it will take a long learning curve and its another $49 a month.
I hope my post will be read by Adobe tech.
I understand the frustration about Adobe Dimension 4.04 not being optimized for Apple Silicon yet. However, I’ve been working on an M1 Mac Studio, and I’ve had a surprisingly positive experience with rendering speed. Even while working on a complex 3D motor oil six-pack tray with lots of details, I didn’t face any slowness, and rendering times were fast. While native optimization would definitely be a big plus, I’m finding that Dimension still performs really well on Apple’s M1 hardware.
Rosetta 2 generally allows these Intel apps to run smoothly, but they may not achieve the same speed as native ARM-optimized applications. For resource-intensive apps like Adobe Dimension 4.0, one might experience some slowdown compared to using a native version.
Check Attachment, it was done in Dn 4.04

The problem we found about the M1 chips is that comparing the same render made by 2 different user we're ending up with shift in color between the two renders which is real bad.

The new versions of Dimension simply do not work, every time I try to import a model or open a previously created file it freezes and stops working. It's frustrating not being able to work anymore.

Can you please provide more info, Mac, PC, M1 chip, and where the models where created.

The files were created in version 3.4.11 and I had to go back to that version, working on a Mac Chip M3 Pro.

I had the same problem on M1 Pro. I tried opening a file and it just beachballs and crashes.

I can't see a Food Bag, in new Dn 4.04.
Also, I see few models are missing that used to be in Dn 3.11.4. If I install the older version and retrieve those models and save them to be use in Dn 4.04.
Does anyone know if this works. In adobe illustrator I can design a bag of chips with mesh tool, but can't export .obj files?
or maybe use Photoshop version 22.2, it is fully 3D capable.

Since using the new version I can no longer work at the same level as before!
When I duplicate an element, for example a cube, that has a graphic (sticker) and I try to change the color of the cube of the duplicated element, the graphic (sticker) disappears when I Save. The same thing happens to 4 friends who use the same version of Adobe Dimensions

Since we do a lot of package design Adobe Dimension has become essential to our work flow. If they pull the plug on the older version it will be EXTREMELY detremental to our business. It's a shame.

I just don't understand why Adobe tech are not responding to these concerns. I have reported a few bugs like the lock of the layer. The icon never change so you can't tell if iit's locked or unlock. I can't believe they spent all this time to bring Adobe dimension to 4.0 version and just stop with no fixings.

I completely agree with you. It's unbelievable that Adobe continues to ignore these concerns. I have also reported several bugs, and it seems that each update has not fixed a single one. It's frustrating that they have brought Adobe Dimension to version 4.x without addressing such basic issues like importing a 3D model. I expected more commitment to quality and user experience from Adobe.

Yes! I am also horrified and endlessly disappointed by their behavior... unfortunately it is already becoming their normal practice.

Hi J!
Could You tell me how to add physical light in latest Dimension version? Below is the link how to do this, but I don't see this possibility. There is no physical light in application (only enviroment lights). In scene panel - light section - I can only add enviroment light. No point light, no dircet light, nothing. I have M1 mac mini with 16 GB RAM. I'll be apreciate to find solution witha a little help of You. Regards.
