I need help with a strange graphic application distortion.
The below image is part of a model from Sketchup. It has a deep cut which is seemingly affecting the way the graphic behaves when applied.

The graphic is exactly the same size and shape as the model (tried as transparent png and jpg), so it should perfectly cover the whole side. Instead it is being distorted by an invisible diagonal line between the bottom corners and the internal curves.
I created a super simple but similar shape to test with with the same results. Any ideas welcome.

Thanks all
they are not the same shape | size however you could place the image as decal which would give better results for that image
Dimension for Photoshop users |
another option would be to place your material image onto a flat square in Dimension then cut the out the shape you want after in Photoshop [some other 3d software]

There is another option to use texture image for Opacity for making invisible some regions of object.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
I've managed to make it work by applying a material and then editing that material rather than applying a graphic. This creates an anomaly in our work flow, just for this one regular output but until it's fixed, so be it.
Just to clarify, we are trying to produce 3D mockup files for all our regular outputs so that we can quickly and easily take designs through onto those 3D models and render. It's worked so far for all our regulars until I hit this problem where a shape with a large cutout doesn't allow the image to go on smoothly.
