How does the repeat value works?

For example:

I have a 20x40 px image which I apply on the 3D model, with the repeat value of 30, which reflects the real proportions.

What algorithm could I use to determine the repeat value for a 30x60 px image, in order to reflect the real proportions?

Based on the numbers you would need to increase the scaling value by 50%
