Dimensions seems limited without the ability to generate 3D objects from text input. Does anyone know if this feature exists, or if Adobe is planning on implementing it any time soon? I ask because older similar software, such as Simply 3D (which Adobe owns now) had this functionality. You could enter text, choose bevel, extrusion, spacing, and even apply separate materials to front, side, and bevel. It was awesome and Dimensions would greatly benefit from the ability to create and manipulate 3D text.

These forums are great for discussion but we have another site that is more about features, voting, status updates, etc. I'd recommend looking there if you want to know if something is planned or under development. You can also vote/subscribe to updates and post new ideas.

As you said, there are many other applications that can create 3D text, so we're focusing on importing workflows and making things look beautiful and render great. Dimension has no creation tools (modeling, text, vector extrusions, etc.) of any type at the moment and while this is an area we're interested in, it's not something we take lightly. If we are going to go into 3D modeling, we want to do something new, not just recreate one of the existing dozens of toolsets.

as a workflow you can make 3d text in Photoshop (with all those options and much more) ... export as wavefront | obj then bring that model into Dimension to play with as much as you want

JeanetteMathews, While your answer may "technically" be correct...
The answer from Ussnorway was WAY MORE HELPFUL!
