Transparency in Dimension 4.1.

I’m experiencing a problem I’ve never had before. In the latest version of Dimension, released last month, I can’t turn off the background color, nor can I export/render a PNG with a transparent background. When I try rendering to PSD and open the file in Photoshop, there is always just one merged layer (object + background). This forces me to manually select the object and create a new layer without the background. Should I revert to the previous version of Adobe Dimension? All I need is to export/render simple objects without a background, but it seems that this option is no longer available. Thank you in advance for your support!

You can export only object as 3D file and than import into any 3d app that you are using. Import it into = and check: can you render with transparent background via that app.

Unfortunately, Dimension are not able to export transparent background in previous version also. You need to achieve this in PS.

Dear Ares, thank you for your reply. Once rendered in PS there is just one level. On the internet I find different answers, that the rendered file from Dimension to Photoshop gives you the possibility to have different levels in PS and easily eliminate the background, which in my case is not possibile. Why? Thank you once again

The easier way is to flatten all layers in Ps and remove background.

Also you can export you 3D object as any 3d file from Dimension and import it into other 3D app that allows to render with transparent background.

to render a 3D object with a transparent background in Adobe Substance 3D Painter, but there are a few key steps to get it right:
🧾 How to Render with Transparency
• Use the iRay Renderer: Transparency is supported when using the iRay renderer. OpenGL may not handle alpha channels properly in some versions.
• Set Environment Opacity: In the iRay settings, reduce or disable the environment opacity so it doesn’t show up in the background.
• Save as PNG or TIFF: These formats support transparency. When you hit Camera > Save Render, choose PNG or TIFF to preserve the alpha channel.
• Check Alpha Channel: Make sure your material setup includes an opacity map if your object itself has transparent parts.
