UV's don't match 1:1 proportion

Hello,

I'm working on bringing in non-proportional artwork into Dimension after setting up UV's in Modo.

When I work with the UV/1:1 format I have no problem, but when I bring in artwork that is not 1:1, it's not placed correctly.

Can someone direct me to setting up UV's for my OBJ files so that I can bring in non-square art? Is there a formula? the gray borders don't seem to be consistent from art that is taller than wide, vs art that is wider than tall.

Many thanks in advance.

the point of a UV is to add textures and if you use a non-1:1 map then of course you end up with distorted look
