I want to convert a web page (html) to a PDF document. When I tried to do this using my Adobe PDF Pack, I received a message indicating that I would have to do it using the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer. So, I downloaded and installed the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer as directed. I went to the web page and printed the document to the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer, as directed in the instructions. I received the following error message: Could not open the file. Access is denied.
What do I do now?
The CreatePDF Desktop Printer has been retired. Please see https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-5131 for more information.

Hi,
Please try to print another web page and let me know if you see the same error message.
Also please try to use the printer from another application to see if the printer is working or not.
Thank you.

I get exactly the same result. It doesn't work. Please note that I am
trying to SAVE the web page as a PDF file. That is, I am trying to convert
a web page (html) to a PDF document. I am not trying to print it. I want
a copy of the PDF version of the web page to save on my computer.
In any event, printing it does not work. I get the same error message I
indicated in my first missive. And, yes, my printer is working just fine.
Please: tell me how to use the
<http://forums.adobe.com/message/5836668#5836668> Adobe CreatePDF Desktop
Printer to convert a web page to a PDF document. When I try to do that,
using my Adobe PDF pack, I get this message:
"Adirondack-Wildfl ... ng-Shrub-List.html" is in a format not supported for
conversion to PDF.
You can save the file to one of the supported formats or use the PDF printer
for Windows to convert the file. For a list of supported file formats
<https://createpdf.acrobat.com/redir/cpdf_cpdf_supported> click here"
When I clicked on the link, I received these instructions:
e_to_PDF>
http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/using-pdfpack.html#main_Convert_a_file
toPDF This page included the following:
"To convert a file type not listed above, use
<http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/using-pdfpack.html#main_adobePDF_desk
top_printer> Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer. " So, I clicked on that link
and downloaded the Adobe CreatePDF Printer. I followed these instructions:
"Print To PDF Setup
The Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer lets you convert any file (in a
printable format) to PDF by printing it from an application on your desktop.
The resulting file is saved automatically to your Adobe PDF Pack account,
and you receive an email when conversion is complete. The desktop printer
functionality is available for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. You
don't need any special hardware to print to Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer.
To print to the Adobe CreatePDF printer, first install and configure the
Adobe CreatePDF Desktop printer. Then, open a file in its native application
and choose the print function. Select the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer
from the printer list, choose the appropriate print settings, and then print
the file. Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer converts the file to PDF, and then
stores the PDF file in your Acrobat.com account."
So, the instructions say that the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer will
convert a file to PDF and store it in my Acrobat.com account. It doesn't do
that. I tried just printing it (after selecting Adobe CreatePDF Desktop
Printer). I also tried printing to file. In both cases, I get an error
message, and there is no file stored in my Acrobat.com account.
It doesn't work.
Please fix!

No, it still doesn't work after I modified my settings and closed the
browser (Firefox) as you suggested. I also tried it from a different
browser (IE). Nothing works. According to the instructions: "The resulting
file is saved automatically to your Adobe PDF Pack account, and you receive
an email when conversion is complete." I have not received an email, and
the file does not appear in the list when I go to sign into my Adobe PDF
Pack account ( <https://createpdf.acrobat.com/app.html>
https://createpdf.acrobat.com/app.html ). There is a file list there, but
it contains only the files I have converted from Word to PDF. Am I going to
the right place to search for the file?

Hi,
When your page is printed by the printer the PDF file will be stored at https://files.acrobat.comand you will receive an email.
Are you using Windows 7 SP1? If so, you may need to install a hotfix to update inetpp.dll version at
C:\Windows\System32 folder. You can find more information about the hotfix at
http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/createpdf-desktop-printer-windows-7.html.
Have you installed Adobe Postscript driver on your system? If you have not installed the PS driver then please do so as follows:
1. Open Start menu > Devices and Printer ( or from control panel) and select "Add a printer"
2. Select "Add a local printer"
3. Select "Use an existing port: LPT1: (Printer port)
4. Select any company and any PS printer with Adobe PS printer driver(not clone) such as Xerox and Xerox Phasor 6120PS
Note: Adobe PS printer drivers(PSCRIPT5.DLL and a few other files) are installed at C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 folder if your system is 64 bit.
Please let me know if this does not help.
Thank you for your patience.

It did not help. Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer still does not work.
I followed your instructions to make sure that the Adobe Postscript driver
had been installed. However, the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer still does
not work.
As far as your recommendation to install the hotfix is concerned, you are
recommending something that Microsoft recommends NOT to do. Here is the
warning I received when I attempted to install the hotfix:
Hotfix Request
Important
* A hotfix is intended to correct a specific problem.
* Apply the hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the specific
problem.
* Installing the incorrect hotfix can cause damage to your system.
* If you are not sure whether the hotfix is the correct one for your
system, do not install it.
* Hotfixes are included in subsequent service packs that are safer to
install through Microsoft <http://update.microsoft.com> Update.
The warning that the hotfix might damage my system was enough to scare me
off. Please do NOT recommend steps that are potentially damaging to my
system.
I still need to create PDF files from html files. Adobe CreatePDF Desktop
Printer does not work.
What do you suggest?

Hi,
Please let me know the version of inetpp.dll version at C:\Windows\System32 folder.
Please uninstall Adobe CreatePDF Desktop printer once then reinstall it.
If your inetpp.dll is either 1 or 3 below then it should be good for the printer.
Note:
Thank you.

It didn't help.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe CreatePDF Desktop, as you requested. It
still does not work.
My inetpp.dll = 6.1.7601.17514 (11/6/2011)

Hi,
It seems that the inetpp.dll version is a wrong version for CreatePDF Desktop printer to work. The hotfix will upgrade the file to 6.1.7601.21819,
Please see more ifnormation about the hotfix at Microsoft site:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2616471
Thank you.

To repeat a point I made clearly in a previous email, Microsoft advises
against this step, warning that it may damage my system. Here is what
Microsoft says:
Hotfix Request
Important
* A hotfix is intended to correct a specific problem.
* Apply the hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the specific
problem.
* Installing the incorrect hotfix can cause damage to your system.
* If you are not sure whether the hotfix is the correct one for your
system, do not install it.
* Hotfixes are included in subsequent service packs that are safer to
install through Microsoft <http://update.microsoft.com> Update.
As you can see, Microsoft warns that the step you are recommending "can
cause damage to your system."
Please DO NOT advise me to do something that may damage my system. I am not
willing to risk it. None of the other steps you have recommended have fixed
the Adobe Create Desktop Printer. I am unwilling to risk damage to my
system when it is unclear whether the step will fix the Adobe product.
I have now expended a considerable amount of time trying to fix this Adobe
product, to no avail. The product works fine to convert Word to PDF. One
of the other functions of the product - to convert html to PDF through the
Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer - simply does not work.
What do you suggest?
